Physiotherapy Care

“Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness.” ~Edward Stanley

Physical exercise
  • Important for maintaining physical fitness
  • Can contribute positively to maintaining a healthy weight
  • Building and maintaining healthy bone density muscle strength, and joint mobility
  • Promoting physiological well-being
  • Reducing surgical risks
  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Reduces levels of cortisol (which causes many health problems, both physical and mental)

Don’t you think exercise is essential?

“Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.” ~Plato

According to the World Health Organization, lack of physical activity contributes to:
  • approximately 17% of heart disease and diabetes
  • 12% of falls in the elderly
  • 10% of breast cancer and colon cancer

Frequent and regular aerobic exercise has been shown to help prevent or treat serious and life-threatening chronic conditions such as:
  • High blood pressure
  • Obesity
  • Heart disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Insomnia
  • Depression
  • Endurance exercise before meals lowers blood glucose more than the same exercise after meals.

“Exercise regularly, eat right, die anyway.”

Physical therapy (or physiotherapy), is a health care profession which aims the physical treatment and management of disease or condition which enables people to reach their maximum potential.

Therapeutic exercise is used to improve strength, mobility, and function and to decrease pain and swelling

Physiotherapy has and will continue to make a significant difference to the lives of many people of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels. It can be key to restoring and maintaining a healthy level of function.

MOAC&RC® physiotherapy station is dedicated to help you in getting excellent physiotherapy support in different rheumatic diseases

  • Missed more than one treatment
  • Newly undiagnosed illness

  • Not feeling well
  • Blood Pressure >200/100
  • Unstable sugar levels

“The only valid excuse for not exercising is paralysis” ~Moira Nordholt

Symptoms that should be Reported to Your Doctor if Occurs During Exercise:
  • Pain or pressure in chest, neck or jaw
  • Excessive fatigue, not related to lack of sleep
  • Unusual shortness of breath
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness during or after exercise
  • Persistent rapid or irregular heart rate during or after exercise

Physically active individuals are healthier, happier and live longer than those who are inactive and unfit.

For many older people with arthritis, joint and muscle changes due to aging can make matters worse. Therefore, for the person with arthritis, the right kind of exercise is very important

The Clinical Physiotherapist of MOAC&RC® can help you understand what exercise you have to do!

How does MOAC&RC
® work?

The members of the center gives advice and treatment covering all aspects of education, pain management and rehabilitation.

You’ll be assessed individually to identify problems and then a treatment plan is agreed to address the issues raised.

Here are a few more tips to keep in mind when starting an exercise routine:

  • Get professional advice and set guidelines before starting a program
  • Listen to your body. Pain is not a part of being fit
  • Don't exercise during an arthritis flareup
  • Start slow and progress as you go
  • Always warm up properly before you begin including stretching and walking for a few minutes

Exercise helps reduce the risk of falls in the elderly by improving muscle function, and weight-bearing exercise helps develop and maintain bone mass.

But keep this in mind when considering using exercise to prevent or treat osteoporosis:

* Exercise should be combined with other treatments, especially when the trend toward bone loss is strong.

* Exercise should not substitute for, or delay the use of, medically accepted therapies to prevent and treat osteoporosis.
